Arthouseから２０１２年用のキットが届き、早速始めてみました。課題は多くの中から迷わずTransatlanticを選択しました。１５～１７世紀の大航海時代のイメージをファンタジー風に仕上げるつもりでいます。

びっくりしたのは、紙の質が意外と悪いこと。Faber-Castellを愛用しているので、紙がしわしわになってしまいました。

This is my 1st page of arthouse sketchbook project. I was surprised by its paper quality... I meant, not so good for water color with my favorite Faber-Castell. My theme will be Transatlantic and I will try my images to be nautical fantasy in the age of geographical discovery. ~ Adventurous, Courageous & Leadership ~

{ Got a Pumpkin ? }

E君が学校のパンプキンパッチで取って来たパンプキンです。

E kun got a pumpkin from his school field trip.

PTAに４ドル払ってフィールドトリップ（遠足のようなもの、郊外学習のこと）で近くの、かぼちゃ置き場の空き地にとりに行ったのだそうです。

シーズーと比べるとかなり大きいことがわかります。

今回、E君は、家に残り近所の子にお菓子をあげるほうをやりたがりました。お菓子だけではなく、上の写真のような、小さなおもちゃも用意しました。

しかし、数人にお菓子をあげた後に自分もほしくなり、近所を回りました。

今回のハロウィーンは、近所のお友達の家のパーティーにお呼ばれしたので、にぎやかでとても楽しかったです。

{ Pumpkin Patch Starting ? }

この季節、スーパーなどちまたでは、ハロウィーンのデコレーションが目だってきたため、ハロウィーンねたでブログを書いてみることにしました。ハロウィーンはキリスト教の万聖節の前夜祭のことで、精霊を信仰する古代ケルト文化に起源があるそうです。（日本語版のWikiより）ベイエリアの界隈では、公立小学校もやる、わりと盛んな行事です。内容としては、

１）パンプキンを購入、特に、農家に行って好きなかぼちゃを買うことを、パンプキンパッチといいます。

２）かぼちゃをくりぬいて、中をろうそくで火を灯す。

３）当日（３１日夜）近所からお菓子をもらいに、仮装して練り歩く。

以前、子供が小さいときは、家もたしかにやっていました。今年はどうしましょう。。。

The begining of holiday season, we start seeing a lot of pumpkin decorations in everywhere...

 Is that true Halloween has roots in ancient Celtic culture to believe in spirits? That is really cool to have old culture respected for long term in the history.

This season always reminds me of m-kun... he is growing older~ ^-^)/

ホリデーシーズンのはじめ、かぼちゃを満載した車が。。。個人というより、たぶん小売り業者さんでしょう。

Somebody bought a lot of pumpkins! Probably he is a retailer...

トラベリングブックが製作されたアトリエを紹介します。トラベリングブックの概要については、前回のブログで紹介しています。

Welcome to my studio! where the second stop of {portrait:landscape} book.

I am working on such a small desk.

Actually, it is my jewelry box. I do not have a desk... For sure, I am planing to buy a drafter but I have not decided which one...

自分のページに作品を描いてみてわかったのですが、他のページ、特に表紙などが意外と汚れやすいのです。水彩など、水を使うためでしょう。っというわけで、ページプロテクターという、スクラップブック用のビニールカバーをつけました。もちろん、作品製作中の暫定的なものなので、プロジェクト終了後には取り除いてくださいね。

As I mention before, traveling book might be easy to get dirty during the process. I was thinking to put paper cover on top but I rather got a good idea. I used the page protectors on each page and front and back. Page protectors are normally used for scrapbooking to protect photos. It may provide a certain degree of protection since it is water-proof. However the size does not fit perfectly.

Page protectors are easy to remove. The participating artist can remove them if she wants to enjoy the original texture. They are not perfect size so that we can discard them all after the book come back to San Jose ^-^;;

アーティストの友人の誘いで、トラベリングブックという芸術関連企画に参加しています。１冊のスケッチブックを、世界中から賛同した芸術家たちの間で回し、自分に与えられたページに、自画像と、自分の住んでいるところの景色を描くという試みです。現在、すでに９カ国、１７人の芸術家が参加を表明し、スケッチブックは北米、ヨーロッパ、中東、オーストラリア、日本を巡り、約９ヶ月ほどかけて、アメリカに戻って来るでしょう。道中、どんなページが追加されていくのか楽しみです。

Hi artists!

I received traveling book ~ { portrait:landscape } on September 21st from @kimikobashi in San Jose CA. So my target shipping date is planed before October 5th to the 3rd stop @HeedlessCeramic in Portland OR.

This is an exciting art project organized by @kimikobashi which the sketch book travels across 3 continents and 2 islands being passed through 17 artists, it is literally all over the world. Each artist is assigned to add her art pieces in 4 blank pages when she received it, where the theme is { 2 pages for self-portrait, another 2 pages for landscape where you live } See more details in kimi's blog: new traveling book ~ {portrait:landscape}

 これは、ベイエリアといわれる地域を３分以内に特徴を収め、なぐり描きのように表現したものです。事実上、サンフランシスコはあのように見えます。

This is the familiar view I always see from or to the airport (SFO). I travel once a year to Tokyo. In California, we enjoy BBQ party and fishing in lakes near by. This is a 3 minutes scketch. Whole idea is attempting drawing in 3 minutes.

Come to play in my world of fantasy. This is my self-portrait. I have a pet dolphin and a big trading ship.

I like sailing boats because I like Mr. Midshipman, Hornblower, the popular England novel series with full of adventure. The best book for boys and moms who have boys :D I also like the colors; purple, emerald green, and turquoise. My only mistake is the face, I like more mature face more or less 40. I like to play harp and want to learn.

More update is coming during the stays of traveling book in my place! Stay turned...

{ Gorgeous afternoon @ Stanford Art Museum }

 アーティストの友人に誘われて、スタンフォード大の美術展（本のアート展）に行ってきました。本のアート自体は、カリフォルニアで古くに印刷されたものを紹介するもので、たいしたことなかったのですが、やはり常設展の方のスタンフォード家のコレクションが充実していて感銘を受けました。特に彫刻家ロダンの作品数では世界的に有名なのだそうです。

My artist friend invited us to go together to see “book art exhibition” at Stanford University Cantor Art Center. The place is famous for Stanford family’s large collection of Rodin sculptures. As well as Rodin, we could see some of anthropologic art collections from Egypt, Africa, and then modern art.   Her son is a best friend of my son while they studied at Delphi Academy so that we try to get together once in a while for them.  We tried to teach what are they in those books and however, 2 boys are too happy to see each other running around in and out of the gallery space. There was an outside objet boys really liked, which was a huge maze-like rusty metal architecture we can actually walk through inside.

Egyptian Art

I normally dislike contemporary art...I like old style, but kids like this panda art and asked me to take a photo.
現代アートの部屋にあったパンダ。漫画みたい。子供は喜びました。

Tiny magnet men, boys bought in the museum shop.
子供たちがミュージアムショップで磁石のおもちゃをお土産に買いました。館内コーヒーショップで一休みもしました。

A huge rusty piece of metal objet actually can go inside...
子供たちが気に入って閉館まで遊びまくった鉄のオブジェ。

どういう意味をこめたのかわからないが、内部が貝のように渦巻きになっている。鉄のオブジェの内側から空を見るといろいろな形に見える。

A very European style campus building, there must be a lot of young people in the campus on week days but the day was on Sunday. So quiet that only a few families nearby, dogs and tourists can be seen.

My friend brought scooters for kids so they can play after the museum. The boys are very good at scooters. They are not tired at all!

美しいキャンパスの建物。日曜なので、学生の姿はなく閑散としていて、ゆっくりできました。時々、近所の人の犬の散歩や、ジョギング姿、観光客を見かけました。
