ニューヨークのほうに、ブルックリンアートライブラリーという私立の図書館があり、２５ドル代金を支払うと、所定のスケッチブックに自分が描いたイラストを展示（保管）し、希望があれば一般に貸し出しもしてもらえるという企画があります。アートハウスという会社がやっていて、素人からプロまで、絵に興味のある幅広い人に人気があります。興味のある方は、arthouse sketchbook とググると出てきますよ。(英語のサイトです）


私も今回友人の誘いで参加し、スケッチブックを郵送しました。短期間で何ページも描かなければならず、(水彩のページの）ほとんどが失敗だったのですが、その中で比較的に自分で気に入ったものをここに掲載しています。テーマが決まっていて、トランスアトランティック、「大西洋横断」です。


地図の描き方などはジャン-ポール ゲランの香りの世界への旅をだいぶ参考にしました。

{ E's Magic Show }

E は今、手品に夢中です。YouTubeなどで一人で熱心に研究しています。学校の勉強にもこれくらい興味があればよいのですが。。。

{ Mission California }

E は今、４年生の社会科の授業で、カリフォルニアの歴史を勉強しています。２学期は、１８世紀後半にスペインの入植、および同化政策により、カトリックのサンフランシスコ会から宣教師がやってきたころを学習中です。当時カリフォルニアにはこのような入植拠点および商船などの補給地が１０箇所作られたそうです。（サンディエゴ、サンフランシスコ、サンノゼもそうです）Eの担当は南カリフォルニアサンタバーバラ市です。


学校の課題（宿題）は、粘土でそのころの様子のジオラマ（箱庭のようなものです）を製作し、調べたことを教室で発表することです。


ジオラマは靴の箱の中に作ります。材料は、粘土、ティッシュ、紙、モス（乾燥した緑の草でクラフト用に売っている）、絵の具など。下記の写真です。ほとんど想像で作ったので、間違いをみつけたら教えてくださいね。（砲台は、本当はなかった？）

スペインの司令官が砲台でにらみをきかせるなか、宣教師が原住民に農業などを指導しています。農産物は主にオレンジとオリーブだったそうです。

現地の人が漁業（投網）をするなか、遠く沖にはスペイン船が停泊中。
下は、丘からの広大な眺めを再現してみました。

Eは今、スケッチを習っています。いつも、ポケモンなどの漫画ばかり描いているので、「ままが今度旅行したい所描いてよ～」とリクエストをしてみました。


Eが描いたドイツロマンチック街道の終点ノイシュヴァンシュタイン城の絵です。写真を見せて描いてもらいました。色彩がとても綺麗な絵です。水彩です。先生に誉められたようです。

{ Trans-Pacific Art Show Opens !! Jan.21 - Feb. 11 }

I attended the opening ceremony of Trans-Pacific Art Show at Bay Street Cafe in Fremont yesterday. The show was quite successful with many guests. The venue was awesome with  the live jazz piano and delicious espresso and sweets.

Congrats for all Trans-Pacific Artists!! 
and thanks for all guests visited. 

Special thanks for Mr. Lotfi, the owner of the bay street cafe to make this happen, 
also wonderful job of Toni Rica to find this place first of all !!

{ Setting up the venue in Bay Street Café }

I learned a lot!! on this setup for coming Trans-Pacific art show…

It was impressive to see that my colleague artists were very careful about the location, height and placing of the frames. They got a lot of good ideas considering the colors and sizes for selecting the locations. We considered over and over again before placing for each piece. 

The big pieces (mainly Kimi’s and Trina’s) were rather easier because of not so many options but the small pieces were sometimes difficult.  Besides mine, I was fully responsible for placing Shingo’s series of artworks and it turned out pretty attractive on the black wall in the center of the venue, which I think the best location!! ^^;; 

As a matter of fact, we were there for 4 – 5 hours until 10PM!! Special thanks for the young gentleman Mr. Davin who helped a lot for many of the difficult tasks to hang our items on the wall.

今週土曜に始まる、トランスパシフィックアートショー(日米芸術家によるグループ展)の会場準備のお手伝いに行ってきました。

驚いたことに、会社帰りの５時半から１０時までと、かなり長いこと、あーでもない、こーでもない、と時間を費やして、ワイワイガヤガヤとカフェに居座ってしまいました。他のお客さんもたくさんいたのに、よかったのかな？

絵画をつるすラックなどは店主のLotfiさんと近所の商店主のJodiさんの両氏が準備してくださったていたので、私たちは絵をつるすことに専念できました。友人たちは、かなりこだわりのある、っというか、随分と良いアイデアがあるのだと感心しました。私は、日本の芸術家のAkiyama Shingoさんの作品展示を担当して、良い場所に魅力的な配置ができたかと自負しております。作品展示には、地元芸術家のDavinさんの助太刀で、力仕事や難しい仕事もサッサと終わり、出来栄えには皆が満足したと思います。

私の作品は、油絵はKimiさんが、これは木のそばがいい！と場所を選んでくれて（嬉）、アクリルの小品カリブ海クルーズ３点セットは、Lotfiさんご自慢の三角展示塔を自分で選んで展示しました。これもまた楽し～^^～

以下、出展作品です。（写真のため、色は多少変わっています）他のアーティストの作品は、ショー開催後に掲載予定。

My dear friend Kimi Kobashi will introduce you the artworks of young, energetic and talented artists from Japan!

Local bay area artists will also be joining the show to corroborate
 for the “Trans-Pacific”.

The venue is a gorgeous art deco styled café and owner Mr. Lotfi can create beautiful and delicious espresso art for you.

ベイエリアにお住まいの皆様、絵画、イラスト、陶芸などにご興味はありませんか？

今度、フリーモントにある、ベイストリートカフェという喫茶店で、日本とベイエリアのアーティスト１０人のコラボによる、トランスパシフィックアートショー（絵画と陶芸のグループ展）が開催されることになりました。

日本からは、芸術家@kimikobashiさんの招待で、新進気鋭の若手5人の作品を展示いたします。その方々の細かい経歴などは、下記のパンフを見てくださいね！ちなみに私も何点か小品を出展させていただくことになっています。

ベイストリートカフェは、実は私も打ち合わせのために行ってきたのですが、中はとてもおしゃれで、アールデコ調のインテリアが素敵でした。協力してくださるお店のオーナーのLotfiさんは、エスプレッソのアートができる方で、カフェラテがとてもおいしかったです。お店のすぐ裏はモールの広い駐車場ですので、パーキングのご心配は要りません。
